Hi everyone,

If you need any funding then this is a great opportunity:

Get £250 for your Oxjam event and get on XFM !

We've teamed up with our friends at XFM to offer a total of £50,000 to help you put on your Oxjam event this October. We'll be providing 200 Oxjam event organisers with £250 each towards the cost of putting on their event, meaning that you'll be able to raise even more to help fight poverty around the world. Even better, the artists who perform at the 200 XFM Oxjam shows will also have the chance to be featured on XFM.

How to apply:

All you have to do is let us know all about the event you're planning by applying at www.xfm.co.uk/oxjam. You can apply until 18 August, at which point we'll get together with XFM and pick out 200 fantastic events that we can help to make even better!

v from whom the funding for this partnership comes, only operate within England, so the XFM offer is open to events taking place in England. If you’re from Scotland, Wales or Ireland, though, there are still plenty of reasons to get involved in Oxjam, not least the chance to get the artists who play your event onto MTV – check it out at www.mtv.co.uk/oxjam.

Hi, I also couldnt make it to the meeting!

My name's Claire and I'm from Northern Ireland (hence not being able to make it) and go to Newcastle Uni. I'm studying Music and am also the Social Secretary of the Music Society so technically I'm just the spokesperson for a Society based event. We were planning a huge karaoke night in the Global bar of the Student's Union!

Just to let y'all know I have a lot of help at my disposal; being a Society we are funded by the University, I have a lot of contacts in the RockSoc IndieSoc Breakdancing Society and many others we have collaberated with, also our website http://www.societies.ncl.ac.uk/mussoc has on online database with all the musicians/bands on the course, the folk degree and beyond (this is not accessible unless you are a member I believe the link doesnt activate or something) so just to let you know we have the info to get anyone a band/musician/DJ etc.

Anything I can help anyone with I shall surely give it a go! The Leazes Park thing sounds like a class idea we have some great publicity plans so let me know what we can do!!

ok had a chat with the head techie at the academy last night, he's willing to help with the technical side of things, and is going to speak to a couple of people he knows in regards to lighting/sound/stage hire.

have you guys heard anything about using saltwell park yet?

I don't think the college would let us use the equipment outside the college unfortunatly probably because of insurance and that so if you could source it and a stage that would be a great help.

How big's the stage?

hey guys,

someone has mentioned being able to provide a stage before, not sure on the details though

as for sercurity, an event like this would most likly require qualified/pprofessional sercurity, this would need to be checked out with the council though.

liam, are you able to use lighting/sound equiptment form the college for outside productions? If not I believe somone has mentioned to me that they could help. I'll have a look into this and the stage if you guys want?
